01Our work

Fincher & Co.

A Master of Wine, a winemaker and the growers — one label.

A range of single-vineyard New Zealand wines, made as a collaboration between Liam Steevenson MW, winemaker Ben Glover and the growers who farm each site.

Brand created by Vineyard Productions · wine, identity and production

A green Fincher & Co. case — “Artisan Wines of New Zealand” — resting against oak barrels, a cross of light glowing on the cellar wall behind

The brief

Create a range of artisan New Zealand wines that puts the place and the people first: individual vineyards, the growers who farm them and the winemaker who makes them — under one clear, confident identity.

Our approach

Each Fincher & Co. wine is a collaboration between Master of Wine Liam Steevenson, winemaker Ben Glover and the grower of a single vineyard — and every back label says so, naming the people and the site.

The range follows the vineyards: Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc from the “Little Oasis” vineyard, grown by Geoff Van Asch; Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc from Kersley Estate’s “Dillons Point”; The Dividing Line, a hand-picked Sauvignon Blanc from Alice Mills Vineyard; On the Brink, a certified-organic Semillon and Sauvignon from The Brink Vineyard in Renwick; and The Show of Hands, a selected-clone Pinot Noir from the Pisa Terrace Vineyard in Central Otago.

The identity is deliberately simple: bold serif names on textured white paper, with the Fincher & Co. wordmark running down the back label. On the Awatere Valley label, contour lines of the valley are raised in high-build varnish and the name is picked out in spot UV — the landscape you can feel under your thumb. The Wairau Valley wine carries the same system in deep slate green.

What we delivered

  • Single-vineyard range development
  • Blending trials
  • Grower partnerships
  • Label design and print finishes
  • Photography and brand imagery

Every label names the people who made it.
