Département 69
FleurieBeaujolais, France

Département is the story of French wine in numbers, a collection that delivers an outstanding example of a regions best work. Département 69 Fleurie, Beaujolais is a very unique, delicate and elegant floral wine with plenty of ripe berry fruits for company. It is perfect on its own or paired with cold cuts but has enough weight to accompany grilled red meats. A period of ageing in some of the most excellent barrels and wooden vats was not done to add any obvious flavour or aroma but to add silkiness of texture.

Bordeaux BlancFrance

Département is the story of French wine in numbers, a collection that delivers an outstanding example of a regions best work. Département 33 Bordeaux Blanc offers aromatic notes of lime with hints of freshly cut grass and honeysuckle. Aromas on the nose follow through onto a wonderfully textured palate, with refreshing acidity and a driven mineral finish. Our goal was to produce a Bordeaux Blanc that performed like a fine wine but whose price tag was much less intimidating. We believe we have done that and we hope that you do too.

Département 11
Blanquette de LimouxLimoux, Aude

With a soft mouthfeel and distinct green apple fruit character, our latest addition to the Département range is a benchmark example of the world’s original traditional method sparkling wine. What is a little different is that we decided upon a lower dosage, one of only three grams, which means that this wine exhibits an élan that is sometimes missed in overly sugared examples.

A lower dosage also allows other aspects of the wine to emerge, that may otherwise be too shy to make themselves known. A sprinkling of sea salt appears to cling to the green apple, inducing the desire for some sweet clams or oysters with which to accompany.

Whichever way you choose to consumer our Blanquette; with food, friends or unaccompanied with nothing but a howl of olives, we hope that you enjoy its breezy aspect as much as we do.

Colour

Pale Lemon

Aroma

Green apple and pear dominate the nose, aromas which are the calling card of the Mauzac grapes that have been used to make our Blanquette.

Palate

We played around with the dosage and eventually settled on 4g per litre. This means that it is 'Extra Brut' in style and we preferred this level as it ensures we have all the refreshing qualities that we believe the best sparkling wines always exhibit. It's amazing how a little bit of sugar also increases the ripeness of the fruit on the tongue.
