Picpoul de Pinet

Picpoul, France

One of only four significant producers of Picpoul de Pinet, this wine is both gentle and refreshing.

With notes of Mediterranean white peach, apricot kernel and zesty lime peel culminating in a silky mouth-feel and crisp, vibrant acidity. This acidity is why the wine is known locally as the ‘Lip Stinger’. Picpoul de Pinet is not only splendid with seafood and shellfish but also traditional Mediterranean dishes, cheese and chocolate. It is best drunk young and cool, between 8-10°.

When we first fell in love with this region and its wines, we drank Picpoul in plastic cups, with fresh oysters on our knees, accompanied only by a slice of lemon, overlooking the Mediterranean in front of us. Picpoul has found fame since then, the worlds thirst for this regions wines is extraordinary, however it is as simple a wine as it ever was, and we love it for that.

"The vineyards from where we draw our Picpoul start at sea level and run up to the waters edge of the Bassin de Thau, the large saltwater lagoon that is farmed for some of the worlds finest oysters. With the sea dominating the view, and its breezes full of its aroma, it is perhaps no surprise that this region makes one of the countries most perfectly pitched, seafood-friendly white wines."
